ABOUT THE AMERICAN BOARD OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY

School psychology is considered to be one of the traditional applied specialties in professional psychology. The Diploma in School Psychology has been awarded since 1968. Examinations were conducted by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) until 1992, at which time the American Board of School Psychology (ABSP) undertook examinations for the specialty.

The American Board of School Psychology (ABSP) is composed of six Directors who are responsible for the conduct of the Board Examinations, mentoring, and training of examiners. Directors are elected annually by the Academy of Diplomates in school psychology who are in good standing. A school psychology Trustee represents ABSP on the ABPP Board of Trustees.
